Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker, Ahmed Musa has disclosed that one of the most dramatic things he loves about playing in the Middle East country is how soccer fans often gather round to snap photographs with him, megasportsarena.com reports.
While some Nigerian might think it is a disturbance to allow fans take snap shots with him, Musa says it is a sign of how exciting it is to play in the Saudi Professional League (SPL), but went on to admit that it is not easy to put in top performances on the pitch because the standard is very high and it is one of the toughest championships.
The former Kano Pillars, VV Van Venlo of Holland, CSKA Moscow of Russia and Leicester City of England forward confessed that he never thought he will see such quality matches in Saudi Arabia when left the English Premier League, as he thought he was heading to an easy scene.
However, having now played for Al Nassr since 2018, the 27-year-old fleet-footed Super Eagles’ camp affirmed that he is happy that he took the decision to move to Saudi Arabia, as he has now found out that the Arab country’s league is not as easy as many soccer fans would think.
He is also happy with his contributions to the success story of Al Nassr, who he has helped make it to the finals of King’s Cup, Crown Prince’s Cup and Saudi Super Cup, while also helping ‘The Global’ to another title-winning campaign in the SPL.
The Colombia 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup revelation added that he is happy to play a key role in taking AL-Nassr back to the summit of Saudi football, scoring seven goals and same number of assists, as his side clinched the title.
Before his arrival, Al Nassr had gone without the league title since claiming it consecutively in 2014 and 2015, as they struggled for silverware both domestically and in the Asian Champions League, but he has now helped them edge ahead of their local rivals, Al Hilal.
The Jos-born lad, whose mother hails from Auchi in Edo State, however, confessed that it is not easy to make one’s mark in the Saudi League, as the standard is high, as other clubs are equally tough, but added that encouragement from the fans keeps spurring him on to achieve more.
Musa stressed: “SPL is one of the hardest leagues. The people may look at it as very easy, but I don’t think so. When I first came here, it was difficult for me because of how much fans love football – they don’t want to lose. Fans are always crazy when you lose a game. One of the best moments here is whenever I go out. Everyone wants to take a picture with you.”
