Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, John Mikel Obi is angling for a return to action this weekend in the Turkish Super Lig, following over six weeks out with a thigh injury, megasportsarena.com reports.
The fitness setback has seen Mikel miss action in both the domestic championship and UEFA Europa League, but he looks good to return against Ankaragucu, as he has resumed full training with the Trabzon-based outfit and could return to action on Saturday.
While Mikel will be aiming for his first official game for Trabzonspor in more than six weeks, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi is still in the process of rehabilitation, while Anthony Nwakaeme has to avoid getting a yellow card in order not to be suspended for next week’s epic clash with Galatasaray.
Nwakaeme stands to miss the clash with the champions Galatasaray at the start of next month, as he already has three yellow cards to his name, which came against Fenerbahce, Basaksehir and Alanyaspor, such that he is now just one away from a suspension.
Being without the former Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel all-action striker will be a huge blow for Trabzonsor, as Nwakaeme has played 90 minutes in all their Lig matches this season, while also excelling in his last eight Turkish top-flight games, with two goals and three assists to show.
