Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has received a special congratulatory message from his club’s media unit, following his emergence as winner of The Foxes’ best goal award for the past month, megasportsaena.com reports.
Iheanacho’s winning goal came on March 3, after he deftly finished off a long ball forward into his path by Nigerian compatriot, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi, and was hit home first time on the volley by the former Manchester City of England youngster.
The UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and most valuable player, who only recently scooped the Premier League Player of the Month award for March, has also been rewarded with a new contract that will run till June 2024.
Iheanacho, who was in a rich vein of form last month, scoring seven goals in four appearances across all competitions, gained four nominations for the Goal of the Month prize, with his effort versus Brighton & Hove, plus two of his strikes against Sheffield United also making the ten-fold shortlist.
To win the March diadem, Iheanacho saw off competition from Leicester stars Ayoze Pérez and Youri Tielemans, the club’s women’s team trio of Shannon O’Brien, Esmee De Graaf and Sam Tierney as well as youth squad player, Kasey McAteer.
Leicester’s message read: “The #lcfc 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 for March, sponsored by @Landsail_Tyres, is… 🥁. Kelechi Iheanacho’s superb first-time volley away at Burnley! ⚽️. Congrats, @67Kelechi 🙌.”
