Girondins-Bordeaux of France striker, Josh Maja has received stimulating news that the reported interest from Everton of England in signing him this January could still be on after all, following feelers that The Toffees sent their scouts to watch him in his last match of 2019 with the club.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, although Maja appeared to cool off after hitting a hat-trick and another sizzler in two straight matches with the Ligue 1 club, Everton showed some zeal to snatch him in the winter transfer window, only for additional reports stating that they wanted one of his teammates instead.
The report at the weekend stated that Maja might lose out on a possible January deal that would see him join Su[per Eagles’ colleague, Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park, as The Toffees are also said to be interested in his fellow-Bordeaux striker, Ignazio Genuardi.
While the media was abuzz last week with reports that Maja is attracting interest from Iwobi’s club, and additional report by British tabloid, The Mirror disclosed that The Toffees scouts have already made a check on Genuardi in action against Moses Simon’s FC Nantes last month and followed that up with another visit a fortnight ago.
However, the latest report now states that Maja is still on Everton’s radar, and The Mirror went on to disclose that Everton have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old former Sunderland of England hitma, who is enjoying a decent season in France with Bordeaux.
Maja will also hope to convince his suitors that he is still the same fresh goals banger they have eyes on, when he plays his first match of 2020 against Le Mans on January 3, having returned to full training after he was left out of the squad that played away to Stade Rennes last time out.
He missed that game due to fitness issues, but he is now on course to confront Le Mans in the Coupe de France fixture at Stade Matmut-Atlantique in Bordeaux, which could again attract scouts from Everton watching proceedings from the packed stands.
