Manchester United of England striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has received a strong hint that the possibility of him getting a full contract with The Red Devils will depend to a large extent on if the currently suspended English Premier League season would be completed or not.
Megasportsarena.com gatheerd that Ighalo’s loan deal from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua had initially been billed to end on May 31, as he arrived at Old Trafford on a short-term agreement with the Chinese Super League outfit, but the delays caused by coronavirus have now upset that schedule.
He has already received a tempting offer for him to return to Shanghai when the original deal expires, with an improved contract worth 400,000 pounds a week on the table for him up till 2024, which many fans have advised him to accept, due to the fact that he is already 30 years old.
Although Ighalo has repeatedly stated that he would prefer sticking with United, which has been his dream club since his childhood days, the decision appears out of his hands, as latest reports have now revealed that the top brass at Old Trafford are ready to delay taking a decision over the long-term future in the team.
The report by British tabloid, Daily Mail adds that United are eager to extend Ighalo’s loan stay at the club, considering that he has impressed while playing only eight matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since his arrival in January, but the club’s top brass are waiting to see when the EPL will restart.
United are eager to keep Ighalo much longer, after he scored four goals in eight games for the club, leading to suggestions that the club may attempt to negotiate a permanent deal with his parent club, but disruptions caused by coronavirus pandemic have left the officials uncertain in their next line of action over the matter of a contract extension.
Instead of making an early verdict on the issue before the end of this month, United are said to be in no rush to make a final decision, as they are prepared to wait until it becomes quite clear whether the current campaign in the EPL will be completed during the summer.
