Golden State Warriors lost their fourth game in a row as Los Angeles Clippers cantered to a 130-104 win, with Steph Curry making only one of eight three-point attempts and finished with 14 points, and Kawhi Leonard hit 28 for LA.
Same night in the NBA, Devin Booker scored 35 as Phoenix Suns saw off Portland Trail Blazers 127-121, Houston Rockets lost their 14th straight game 125-105 against Sacramento Kings, and Oklahoma City Thunder bested Dallas Mavericks 116-108.
Jimmy Butler had 27 points and 11 assists as the Miami Heat overcame the Orlando Magic 111-103, the Charlotte Hornets left it late to seal a 105-102 win over the Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers edged out the Chicago Bulls 127-105.
Tony Snell hit a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer for Atlanta Hawks as Toronto Raptors were downed 121-120 and Minnesota Timberwolves cantered past New Orleans Pelicans 135-105, while Brooklyn Nets pulled away late to seal a 121-109 win over Boston Celtics to halt the visitors’ four-game winning streak.
Boston got to within two when Jayson Tatum hit a two-pointer with 4:17 left but Kyrie Irving went on to score eight – and 40 on the night – for the victory over their divisional rivals, while James Harden added 22 for Brooklyn, Landry Shamet scored 18 off the bench and Tatum was The Celtics’ top scorer with 31.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Dallas Mavericks started slow but overcame a seven-point deficit at half-time to beat San Antonio Spurs 115-104, despite their opponents getting up early but The Mavs came back, outscoring the visitors 63-45 in the second half to seal their fourth win in a row.
DeMar DeRozan was the top-scorer for San Antonio, hitting 30 points while Kristaps Porzingis hit 28 for Dallas and Luka Doncic added 22, while Jonas Valanciunas netted 29 points as Memphis Grizzlies saw off the Washington Wizards 127-112.
Memphis kept up their chances in a tight Southwest Division, with the victory seeing them one game behind leaders San Antonio, while Valanciunas also had 20 rebounds, while Ja Morant added 21 points as The Grizzlies defence restricted this season’s average-points-per-game leader Bradley Beal to just 21 points.
