Arsenal youth team striker, Folarin Balogun has withdrawn from England’s under-19 national team, due to a bout with injury, which has now ruled him out of a much-expected debut this month, alongside fellow-Gunners’ lad, Bukayo Saka as well as Ajibola Alese from West Ham United and Faustino Anjorin of Chelsea.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, despite receiving a call-up last month, the 18-year-old Balogun has been forced to abdicate his place in The Young Lions’ squad, for which England’s Football Association disclosed that his place has been taken by Leeds United forward, Ryan Edmondson.
While England U21s manager, Paul Simpson will make up for Balogun’s absence, the youngster, who was born in New York, USA will have to dust himself up quickly, as he is said to be part of the plans of Arsenal head coach, Unai Emery for this season’s English FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Balogun, who earlier trained with Arsenal’s team earlier this summer, has played for England and United States at under-18 level, then joined The Young Lions’ selection that reached the semi-finals of the European U17 Championship last year.
With 25 goals to his name from 19 appearances in the U18 Premier League, Balogun was the top-scoring 17-year-old player overall in English youth football circles last season.
