EAGLES MUST WIN FOR IKEME – ROHR

2

Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has declared that the Nigerian national team must win their forthcoming World Cup qualifier against Cameroon as another part of their support for the recovery of first choice goalkeeper, Carl Onuoha Ikeme from leukaemia.
With the countdown getting tighter towards the September 1 first leg in Uyo, Rohr is of a view that the Eagles must win at home and even get a decent result away, in order to further lift Ikeme’s spirit, as the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ goalkeeper continues receiving treatment in England.
The Eagles are four points clear in a group – following wins against Zambia and Algeria – such that beating the African champions twice will guarantee Nigeria a passage to Russia 2018.
Ahead of the back-to-back deciders, NFF second vice-president and League Management Company (LMC) chairman, Shehu Dikko affirmed that Rohr is now using Ikeme’s illness to motivate his players to get victory against Cameroon in September.
“The technical adviser is turning it to advantage to motivate the other players, He has been telling them to play and win the matches for Carl. Carl himself has been calling the players to win the game,” Dikko said.
