Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze will cost Chelsea of England well beyond €35m in his likely transfer fee this summer, as The Blues’ English Premier League rivals, Liverpool failed to get him for the same amount in the January window, megasportsarena.com gathered.
With Chelsea reportedly eager to snatch the Super Eagles’ rising star from The Yellow Submarine at the end of the current season, they must know that Villarreal rejected a €35m formal bid from Liverpool to sign the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation in January.
That must now be the realistic thought for Chelsea, who are said the be looking for wingers to replace the duo of Pedro and Willian, as the pair are likely to leave the London-based club when their respective contracts expire in the summer.
A report by OneFootball, indicates that Chukwueze is now top of Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard’s targets, although The Blues have also been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund of Germany’s fast-rising England youngster, Jadon Sancho.
However, with Dortmund asking for around £120m to sell Sancho in the summer, Chukwueze could be a cheaper option for Lampard’s side, even if it means upping their offer from what their rivals at Anfield put on the table to same player at the start of this year.
It now depends on how eager or not The Blues are willing to get Chukwueze, whose form has dropped this season from the heroics he enacted in his first senior campaign with Villarreal, as he managed only three goals in 26 La Liga appearances this time out with The Yellow Submarine, for who his last strike was in a 3-1 loss at home against Celta Vigo in November.
