Arsenal of England youngster, Bukayo Saka is reeling lyrical over his new contract at Emirates Stadium, as the 18-year-old Nigerian-born winger-cum-full-back says he is happy to announce that he has eventually put pen to paper on the deal offered him by The Gunners’ top brass.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that Wednesday’s contract signing at Emirates Stadium marked the end of a long-drawn wait and nervous period for the club’s top brass, as Saka appeared to be holding out for a possible summer transfer move to either Liverpool or Manchester United, but the dark-skinned lad has put all speculation to rest by finally putting his signature on the dotted line.
Followers and analysts of the English Premier League see it as due reward for the youngster, who has burst onto the scene in sparkling form this season, despite his young age and being forced to play out of position, such that egg heads at Arsenal are pleased to tie him down.
The club quickly went to the media to announce that Saka had put pen to paper on a new long-term deal, thereby ending any speculation that he might leave Emirates upon the conclusion of the current season; especially as the teenager, who has been with The Gunners since seven years old, had been turning heads since making his first-team debut in 2018.
The Gunners’ coach, Mikel Arteta, who analysts believe is facing much pressure on rebuilding the squad this summer, eulogized Saka’s impact in his team and admitted he is delighted that the academy graduate will remain with the club and help them compete at the highest level.
Arteta said: “Bukayo is a talented and intelligent young player. He has impressed me with his work ethic and attitude to learn and adapt, and it has paid off in his performances. I am excited to continue working with him to develop him further, and for him to help us achieve our goals.”
The London club’s technical director, Edu Gaspar added: “This is something everyone involved wanted to happen and we are delighted that Bukayo has signed a new long-term contract. He’s making great progress and is one of a number of young players who have developed through our academy. This is so important for us as we move forward as a club.”
Saka concluded: “London is my home. Arsenal is my team. I’m so happy to finally announce my contract extension. I love playing for this club and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. The hard work continues so I can continue living my dream.”
