Nigeria’s top female athlete, Blessing Okagbare is back in the news, but it is not with action on the tracks or field events, as she is relishing the advent of another weekend, megasportsarena.com reports.
While some of her international colleagues and compatriots are back home in Nigeria competing at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Edo State or turning up as motivational guests and star attractions, Okagbare is happy to relax at her base in United States of America.
She disclosed as much in a post on social media, in which the Sapele-born former African 100m women’s record holder and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games bronze medalist in long jump, who , who recently overcame a bout with injuries to compete in the Diamond League his year, added that she is grateful for the grace of God in her life.
It is another angle to the leisure routine of the soft-spoken star athlete, who secured long jump silver and 200m bronze at the 2013 IAAF World Championships during an outstanding season, as she fielded answers in a work, rest and play interview.
She stated back then that her favourite place to relax is at home, while her perfect non-training day will be waking up at 9am to eat a lovely breakfast, go back to bed for another three hours, take a shower and then stay glued to the TV while texting family and friends.
