West Ham United of England defender, Angelo Obinze Ogbonna could be back in action for The Hammers at the end of this month, as the Nigerian-born stopper is said to be recovering fast from a recent knock, megasportsarena.com reports.
The enchanting news out of London Stadium is provided by The Hammers’ coach, David Moyes, who said he is happy to see the former Juventus and Torino of Italy centre back already picking up his rehabilitation in the gym.
Moyes is enthusiastic that his side have been boosted by news that Ogbonna could be fit for the run-in for the season’s climax, and the stopper’s presence would come in handy as The Hammers chase a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
Ogbonna has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury in the English FA Cup loss away to Manchester United in mid-February, which raised fears that the Italian centre-half, who was a key figure for the London-based side over the first half of the season, faced a long spell out.
Moyes has, however, doused those fears, as the former Everton and Liverpool of England as well as ex-Celtic of Scotland tactician revealed: “Angelo is doing great, he is back. He is in the gym regularly and he is out of his boot.
“We’re expecting him to start doing some running. I am hoping that by the end of the international break we might have him back on the grass in some capacity. There are signs that we are getting him back.”
