Ademola Lookman Shines As Leicester City Diminish

Ademola Lookman is taking Serie A by storm after Leicester City transfer decision Ademola Lookman is showing Leicester City what they are missing with his performances for Atalanta.

Megasportsarena.com reports that while The Foxes are having a stuttering start to the Premier League season, the Nigerian international is soaring in the city of Bergamo.

Lookman, who played alongside Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, fellow Super Eagles players, spent the season on loan at City last term, scoring six goals in 26 Premier League appearances as the team finished eighth after an injury-ridden start and serious problems with defending set-pieces.

Lookman has been pivotal to the progress of Atalanta this season and his Man of the Match display against Monza in a Serie A match penultimate weekend says so much about the ever-improving player.

City could have made his move permanent for £14m over the summer, thanks to an option clause in his loan deal, but could not afford to make it happen because of their severely restricted transfer budget over the summer.

Leicester fans were stunned to see Lookman depart the club after his immense contribution to the team last season.

After returning to parent club RB Leipzig, Lookman was quickly on the move. He was snapped up by Atalanta, perhaps at the recommendation of former City recruitment chief Lee Congerton, who joined the Italian club at the end of last season.

Lookman is now tearing it up at Atalanta this season. He has played all six league games so far, recently assisting one and contributing to another (his shot was deflected for an own-goal) to send Atalanta top of Serie A. They have now slipped to second on goal difference, but it has been a strong start for the team.

In fact, it was Lookman bursting into the Atalanta starting XI over the summer that displaced Leicester’s deadline day target Jeremie Boga. Leicester failed in their move to sign Boga because the clubs could not agree on the terms of a potential loan deal.
