Aris Thessaloniki FC have signed midfielder Oghenekaro Peter Etebo from Stoke for £1.5m on a three-year contract, Megasportsarena.com reports.

The deal with the Greek side will run until June 2025

Stoke City confirmed Etebo ‘s move in a statement: “Stoke City can confirm that Peter Etebo has completed a permanent transfer to Greek side Aris. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Peter well for the future.”

The Nigerian midfielder was on loan to Watford last season but couldn’t fit into the Stoke squad in his return from the London club.

In the summer of 2018, several Premier League and Championship sides expressed interest in Etebo, who chose Stoke City.

His first season in England was very positive. But the change of manager at Stoke City in the second season also changed the situation for the Nigerian midfielder, who was loaned for six months to Spanish side Getafe in January 2020.

Fifty-one appearances (2 goals) in the Championship and FA Cup were his tally for Stoke City before he left for Spain. There he played 11 times (1 goal) and returned to England at the end of the season.

The start of the following year found him on loan again this time in Turkey for Galatasaray, where he made 29 appearances while coming close to winning the Turkish league, with Galatasaray losing the title in a tie to Besiktas (on goal difference ).

Last season he played on loan at Watford, who had just returned to the Premier League.

Etebo has in recent years been an integral member of the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles. He played in important national team competitions and to date has recorded 44 appearances (3 goals).
