Chelsea of England striker, Tammy Abraham is already gunning or his fifth goal of the season when The Blues take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the coming weekend, as the Nigerian-born star is seeking to maintain top form that saw him strike twice again on Saturday.
Megasportsarena.com can report that, after netting a brae for the straight weekend running in the English Premier League, Abraham is justifying the trust of The Blues’ gaffer, Frank Lampard, who was all-smiles at the end of his latest match at the helm of affairs.
Although The Blues gave up a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw with EPL newcomers, Sheffield United, Lampard said he was satisfied with the performance of his squad, especially Abraham, who he described as his side’s best player on the evening.
Another strike against Wolves after the international break would see Abraham equal his best tally of five goals in a single season in the Premier League, which he set in the 2017-2018 season while on loan at Swansea City.
The Nigerian-born England B-squad international took his tally for the season to four after netting a first half brace against The Blades, and he would have bagged a hat-trick in the second half if not for a fine save by the hosts’ goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.
Seven minutes to the end of the game at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s boss made a double change, with Billy Gilmour coming on for Mateo Kovacic while Michy Batshuayi replaced Abraham, but Lampard insists he did take gamblers with his substitutions.
Lampard reflected: ”It was not bold because it was one for one in both positions. Kovacic was on his haunches and blatantly tired. Billy Gilmour is a midfield player who I had on the bench.
”Michy was to bring some energy where Tammy had been our best player in the game clearly. Other people can make what they want with that but I wasn’t being clever at 2-1, I was trying to see the game out.”
