Udinese of Italy defender, William Troost-Ekong will this weekend go in search of redemption for his club, when they tango Cagliari in the Italian Serie A, as he and his colleagues will seek atonement for their 3-1 loss away to Juventus, mnegasportsarena.com gathered.
Udinese’s next fixture will hold exactly a week after Troost-Ekong surprisingly received high marks from his outing against Juventus, with the Super Eagles’ star ranked best in his squad on the night he made his 14th Serie A appearance for his Udine-based side, who failed to hold their own against The Old Lady.
Although Troost-Ekong was nowhere to be found in the task of shutting out Juve star, Cristiano Ronaldio from the encounter in Turin, the Holland-born stopper got a score of 6.8, to place first ahead of Sebastien De Maio with 6.22 and Bram Nuytinck on 6.21 for the visitors.
It turned out to be a feisty encounter on Sunday afternoon but, as much as Troost-Ekong battled for all 90 minutes, he could not prevent his side from losing to their hosts, who were buoyed by a brace from Ronaldo at Allianz Stadium.
Dramatically, the 26-year-old Troost-Ekong was rated high alongside his defence partners for the game, De Maio and Nuytinck joining him in a three-man backline for the visitors, but Luca Gotti’s wards could not keep up with the pace of CR7 et al.
Ronaldo opened scoring after nine minutes before adding another in the 37th and Leonardo Bonucci made it three on the stroke of half time, while Ignacio Pussetto scored a consolation goal late on for Troost-Ekong’s side.
Troost-Ekong and his pals will now aim for a better result this Saturday, when they face Cagliari in their last game of 2019, as they wish to climb higher than their current standing of 17th in the Italian top-flight, with a paltry 15 points from 16 games.
