West Bromwich Albion of England defender, Semi Ajayi has disclosed that he is thinking big of starting 2020 on a victorious note with his club, but admits The Baggies face a tough test against table-topping Leeds United in the lower cadre English Championship.
Megasportsarena.com can report that Albion also head into their New Year’s day clash with Leeds on the back of a shock loss to Middlesbrough last time out, but Ajayi says the revival is on and believes The Baggies will storm back to winning ways in their first match of 2020.
The Super Eagles’ rookie added that he is confident of West Brom carrying the day when they face off with Leeds on Wednesday, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Sunday, which was only WBA’s second loss of the season and ended their 14-game unbeaten run.
Ajayi, who has been a key member of Slaven Bilic’s side since his summer arrival from relegated lower division outfit, Rotherham United to The Hawthorns, went on to charge his teammates to put behind them the disappointment of losing to Boro, in order to stop Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
He declared: “We’re bitterly disappointed with the Middlesbrough result, it’s not what we set out to do. We haven’t managed to get anything from the game or perform to the standards that we know we can leave the boys disappointed.
“The Middlesbrough game was obviously a bad result but at the end of the day it’s only our second loss of the whole season. Fortunately for us, we have a chance to put that right in a couple of days. We need to dust ourselves down and move on to the Leeds game.
“We need to take heart from that and make sure it doesn’t happen again. We need to come to the Leeds game with an attitude to put it right. Let’s get back to winning ways and there’s no better time to start than on New Year’s Day.”
