The immediate past captain of Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets, Samson Tijani has stated delight and appreciation with the deal that takes him out of Red Bull Salzburg of Austria to a year’s loan spell at lower division side, TSV Hartberg.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, although some critics would have reckoned that it is a setback for the 2019 Eaglets’ skipper to be shipped out of high-flying Salzburg to the lowly Hartbeg, Tijani insists he is very happy with the deal and he is determined to make the best of it.
It means the 18-year-old product of Collins Edwin SC of Lagos will spend the 2020/21 season on loan at Hartberg, even after the defensive midfielder put pen on a five-year contract with the Red Bull-owned bigger club, but was not involved in their first two pre-season games.
Feelers already began to emerge about an impending loan spell elsewhere for Tijani, after he was not spotted in the squad that played against FC Bravo and OGC Nice, thereby fueling early indications that he was not in their coach, Jesse Marsch’s plans for the new season.
Consequently, the lad who sealed his first European deal with the Salzburg-based Austrian high-flying club shortly after celebrating his 18th birthday, will continue his development at Hartberg, where he should stand better chances of getting regular playing time and gather experience under less strenuous circumstances at the club that finished last season fifth in the top-flight.
Tijani told Hartberg’s official website: “I’m very happy to be here. I believe in the team and I hope that I can help the team to become even better;” while the club’s managing director and sports executive, Erich Korherr said the team are delighted with the opportunity of signing him.
Korherr added: “We are delighted to welcome an extraordinary talent like Samson Tijani to Hartberg. We look forward to this player. Thanks also to Christoph Freund from FC Red Bull Salzburg for the loan option. ”
