Partizan Belgrade of Serbia have confirmed the status of Nigeria’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medalist, Sadiq Umar as their bonefide player, after paying up a €2m buy-on fee they had earlier agreed with his parent club, AS Roma of Italy, megasportsarena.com reports.
Both clubs had been in agreement over the fee while initiating the loan deal that took Umar from Italy to Serbia last summer, and Partizan have quickly moved to take advantage of that agreement in sealing the leggy striker’s full transfer from Roma.
This is based on stunning form from the lanky lad this season, as he put behind him floundering from he exhibited at Glasgow Rangers of Scotland, where he had been on loan from Roma, after earlier similar spells at Brescia and Spezia.
His burst of top form saw the 23-year-old striker notch 17 goals in 37 appearances for Partizan this past season, such that the Serbian club now value him at €15m; and they are ready to cash in on his current status to get a profit on his transfer later this month.
This means Umar could be heading out of Serbia in the coming weeks, so soon after sealing the deal with Partizan, as he is already attracting frenetic attention from Lille Metropole of France, Manchester United of England as well as Real Madrid and Valencia of Spain.
Sky Sports Italia added that Umar, who made his Italian Serie A debut with Roma in the 2015/16 season, will now move on to finally reap the fruits of his highly promising yet largely retarded and underachieving career; following a very successful first season in Serbia.
