CD Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo has confessed that he had a tough time playing against UD Almeria striker, Sadiq Umar in their clubs’ recent Spanish second division league clash, in which they both scored, megasportsarena.com reports.
While admitting he was equally excited to hit his first goal of the season for Leganes in the encounter, Omeruo hailed Umar as a very good striker and noted that the Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medalist knows his way to scoring.
The dark-skinned defender noted further that the former AS Roma of Italy, Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and Partizan Belgrade of Serbia lanky lad has a keen ability in front of goal, which has made Almeria a strong force to be reckoned with in the ongoing battle for promotion to LaLiga.
Incidentally, it was Omeruo that netted a late winner to help Leganes edge past Almeria, who went in front through Umar in their rescheduled Segunda Division clash on Wednesday, but the Super Eagles defender is pointing elsewhere for the heroics, as he hailed the potentials of his in-form compatriot, who was named LaLiga 2 Player of the Month for January.
Omeruo said about Umar, who has already hit home 12 goals for third-placed Almeria: “He’s a good striker, who knows his way to goal and he takes his chances – he got one chance against us and he converted it.
“He is also difficult to mark, he’s a top striker and was named best player in the league last month. He has an amazing future.”
