West Bromwich Albion of England attacker, Hal Robson-Kanu has gained words of praise from The Baggies’ coach, Slaven Bilic, following his opening goal that helped his side snatch a 2-0 win over Preston North End in the English Championship, megasportsarena.com reports
Robson-Kanu’s goal helped keep West Brom on course for automatic promotion to the English Premier League, much to the delight of Bilic, who was full of praise for the maturity shown by his players, among whom is also Super Eagles’ rookie defender, Semi Ajayi.
While Ajayi could not add to his current haul of five goals for the club he joined last summer from Rotherham United, Nigerian-born winger, Robson-Kanu and Albion captain, Jake Livermore secured a fifth victory in six outings for The Baggies.
The win leaves Bilic’s side seven points clear of second-placed Leeds, who play on Wednesday, and 10 ahead of Nottingham Forest in third, as WBA remain on course for promotion to the EPL, and the coach admitted afterwards that he was delighted with the quality of pass from Callum Robinson for the first goal scored by Robson-Kanu.
Bilic said: “The ball was unbelievable – and he meant it. The quality and the distance – it was like ‘wow’. And when you score a goal like that it gives you confidence. It was a very mature performance. We looked in control and on the front foot.
“People are talking about routine but we made it like that. We were playing against a team that normally has great intensity and maybe the best in the division in transition. We did to them what they were going to do to us – the intensity, pressing, second balls – all of that gave us a platform to catch them in transition.”
