Galatasaray of Turkey returnee, Henry Onyekuru is still basking in the euphoria of his two-goal performance against Gaziantep FK in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig fixture, but went on to point out that he has been boosted by the trust and support he is getting from the club’s coach, Fatih Terim.
Megasportsaena.com reports that, although the star on loan from AS Monaco of France confessed that he was not in 100% physical condition for Saturday’s game, Onyekuru enthused that encouragement from Terim helped him make the best of his third debut for The Lions on Friday evening.
Prior to the game at Kalyon Stadium, Onyekuru had not played an official game since September 19, when he featured for only the last seven minutes for Monaco versus Stade Rennes in the French Ligue 1, but he defied all odds by scoring twice after getting off the bench.
In the midst of accolades coming his way and his personal delight, the former KAS Eupen and RSC Anderlecht of Belgium winger-cum-attacker, who first played for Gala on loan from Everton of England, went on to give all credit to Terim and his teammates for their backing.
Onyekuru, who has now scored 19 goals in 57 appearances for Galatasaray spread across 4,305 minutes, told Galatasaray’s official website: “To be honest, I’m not 100% physically ready. However, there is a very important factor besides this.
“The name of this factor is Fatih Terim! The trust and support he gives me makes me feel better, necessarily. Likewise, I think I performed well with the support of my teammates in the field and the support of our assistant coaches. It will get better with each passing day.”
