OBASEKI GIVES INSURANCE COACH ULTIMATUM

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has given Insurance FC of Benin City coach, Roland Ewere and his crew members a task of winning their next three matches of face the sack.
This much was disclosed by the state’s commissioner for sports, Mika Amanokha, who said the governor is very bitter about the poor performances of the team so far this season.
With Ewere failing to take the club outside the drop zone in the lower division Nigerian National League (NNL), Obaseki has given Eere and his crew a wakeup call.
Amanokha also wondered why a state that produced national team players in the past can no longer produce good players adding that the state government might be forced to go for coaches with the technical knowledge to take charge of the team.
He stressed that rather than believe speculations that the team’s problem was spiritual, he believes it was “purely technical” and coach “Ewere is experienced enough to select a winning team.
Amanokha stated that the governor has now directed that the coach should be reprimanded and given an ultimatum to win their next three away games failing which they will be shown the way out.
The commissioner stated at length: “I’m surprised that despite the huge support given to Bendel Insurance by the state government, they have nothing to show for it.
“As a team enjoying maximum support, they should be able to reciprocate government’s good gesture by giving us good results.
“Government cannot continue to invest on a project or people that are not willing to justify their salaries. We are not happy with their away performance.
“This executive order came as a result of their lackadaisical approach to work. They are expected to give us three straight away victories if the entire technical team hope to keep their jobs. “
