Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been ruled out action with the club for the remaining part of this month, but The Foxes’ gaffer, Brendan Rodgers says the Super Eagles’ star will be fully back in February, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Rodgers admitted it is a big blow to his plans for the team that Ndidi copped a knock during the team’s last training session ahead of their clash with Aston Villa in Wednesday’s first leg of their Carabao League Cup semi-finals fixture.
Rodgers also confirmed that Ndidi will undergo surgery on Thursday, which the former Liverpool and Celtic handler admitted will rule the player out of action for the rest of January, thereby putting on hold a fine run of form and regular playing time for the 23-year-old midfielder, who has been very consistent this season, featuring in all but one of his club’s league games.
With the exception of the trip to Sheffield United in August 2019, Ndidi has been involved in all the EPL matches played by The Foxes this season, logging a total of 1, 730 minutes from the roll call of 20 games he has featured in, but he is now set to miss at least four, being the upcoming ties versus Southampton, Burnley, West Ham United and Brentford.
Rodgers further affirmed that Ndidi, who has made 24 appearances across all competitions this season before the injury setback, will be out of action for some few weeks but he hopes he will be fully back in February.
“He took a knock in training yesterday. Unfortunately, he might need to have a slight operation which will put him out for a few weeks. That’s just unfortunate. But it’s not overly serious. Hopefully into February, he will be fit and ready to go again,” Rodgers said.
