Kwara United of Ilorin dumped Warri Wolves of Delta State in one of six home victories for clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), and the Afonja Warriors went back on top of the log, megasportsarena.com reports.
Despite Rangers International of Enugu also winning at home and Enyimba of Aba snatching a goalless draw away, the weekend belonged to Kwara United, as the Ilorin side climbed back atop the log with a 1-0 home win over their visitors from Warri.
Stephen Jude’s first half lone goal turned out to be the match winner in Ilorin, thereby taking United to 25 points from 13 matches, while Rangers leapt to second place on the back of their 2-0 victory over Heartland of Owerri in an Oriental Derby in Enugu.
The Flying Antelopes now have 23 points, same as Enyimba, who settled for a scoreless draw away to Jigawa Golden Stars of Jalingo, which was the same scoreline between Sunshine Stars of Akure and visiting Adamawa United of Yola, as well as FC Ifeanyiubah of Nnewi at home against Plateau United of Jos.
FC Ifeanyiubah remain in relegation waters alongside bottom placed Adamawa United, in spite of their shock barren draw away to Sunshine Stars in Akure, while Katsina United fell 2-1 at Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
Katsina United are now 17th in the standings with 14 points and drawn into the relegation war following their loss in Makurdi, after Abia Warriors of Umuahia beat Wikki Tourist of Bauchi 1-0 to move out of the drop zone.
