Nigeria’s winning captain at Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Kelechi Nwakali has joined another club in the Spanish second division, as he will line out for the second half of his season with Segunda outfit, AD Alcorcon on loan from SD Huesca, megasportsarena.com reports.
Nwakali opted to link forces with Alcorcon for rest of the campaign in another desperate bid to save his career, as the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has failed to tie down a regular spot with Huesca, despite arriving a high last summer from FC Porto of Portugal.
It marks another shaky spell for the battler, who signed for Arsenal of England after captaining the Golden Eaglets in Chile, but The Gunners loaned him out severally to MVV Maastricht and VV Van Venlo of Holland as well as C Porto.
Similarly, Nwakali’s senior international career has failed to ignite and the product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia knew that struggling for game time at Estadio El Alcoraz would slow him down further, despite playing a key role in the club’s promotion last season.
However, Nwakali is still in for some trying time, as his new team are currently last on the Liga Smartbank table with just 20 points from 23 games and the youngster will hope to help them avoid the drop in the coming days.
Nigeria midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has joined Spanish Segunda club CD Alcorcon on loan for the rest of the campaign, reports Completesports.com.
Nwakali has struggled for regular playing time at LaLiga side Huesca this season after playing a key role in the club’s promotion last season.
Alcorcon are excited to have Nwakali, who made five league appearances for Huesca before opting to take his trade elsewhere for the second half of the season, and the top-flight side have sent him off with a goodwill message.
The top-flight club stated on their website: “Kelechi Nwakali, a footballer for the Sociedad Deportiva Huesca, will play on loan at the Agrupación Deportiva Alcorcón until the end of the season.
“The Alto Aragonese club and the Madrid club have reached an agreement for the transfer of the young midfielder, international in the lower categories with Nigeria. SD Huesca wishes Nwakali the best in this new stage.”
