Red Bull Salzburg of Austria youngster, Karim Adeyemi has found a massive rise in transfer market value coming his way, as the Nigerian-born Germany youth international is now rated at nine million euro, megasportsarena.com reports.
The rise in value makes Adeyemi the fourth most expensive player in the top-flight Austrian Bundesliga and ninth among all born in 2002, while he also leads two other players of Nigerian descent listed in the transfers’ value updates published by Transfermarkt.
Joining Adeyemi on the roll call is Benin City-born striker, Timothy Arase, who is now valued at one million euro, thereby getting 300,000 euro more than his previous highest of December 2019; having garnered 36 caps for Austria’s youth national teams and scored five goals in 25 matches for Rapid Vienna over the course of this season.
In between Adeyemi and Arase is Admira Wacker defender, Emanuel Aiwu, who is now valued at two million euro, which is double what he had before the coronavirus pandemic set in, but the Austria under-21 international still played 26 league matches in the concluded season.
The latest figures mean Arase, Aiwu and Adeyemi have all reached their highest market values since turning professional, as performances at club level and with various cadres of Austria’s national teams have added to their statuses and boosted their potentials.
Incidentally, the 18-year-old lad, who attracted transfer interest from Barcelona of Spain, after he got 13 goals and 16 assists in 33 matches for Salzburg’s teams over the course of this season, is in the running for the Golden Boy Award, but he has played down his chances of winning the gong, instead picking three German-based youngsters as his favourites.
Adeyemi told Transfermarkt: “I don’t think I have a chance to win it. Jadon Sancho, Alphonso Davies, and, of course, Erling Haaland. Those three have deserved it the most. They have played a super season and made a big step in their development. They are my favorites and role models, who I want to emulate.
“I wasn’t too surprised, but at first didn’t realize it—only after RB Salzburg posted something. I don’t care too much whether I will make it to the next round. I am happy about the nomination, that matters. Considering the top players, who are still on the list, it will be hard to stand out; but I would like to make it to the next round. Why not?”
