Bayern Munich of Germany youngster, Joshua Orobosa Zirkzee has sealed a deadline transfer deadline day switch to AC Parma of Italy in a deal that could potentially rise to €15m, megasportsarena.com reports.
This follows confirmation from the Italian Serie A side about their signing of the Nigerian-born lad from The Bavarians, with an option to make the player’s move permanent is in the region of €15m.
Parma confirmed that Zirkzee will now play the remaining part of his season on loan, with them holding an option to buy him outright from Bayern, having completed their process of signing the signing of the Nigerian-born youngster.
The Ducali’s official statement disclosed: “Parma Calcio are delighted to announce the signing of Joshua Zirkzee (22.5.2001, Schiedam) from Fußball-Club Bayern München on a temporary basis until 30/06/2021, after which the Club will have the option to make the transfer permanent.”
Sport Bild chief reporter, Tobi Altschaffl also confirmed the deal and indicated that Zirkzee is happy to be leaving Bayern Munich, where he did not see much of an opportunity to play.
Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano further disclosed that the current holders of the UEFA Champions League are bound to receive 7.5% of any future sale of the 19-year-old Dutch youth international, who The Bavarians were more keen for Parma to hold an “obligation-to-buy.”
Sky Italia added that, with the Serie A side having an option to buy set at €15m, Bayern will also have a sell-on fee if Zirkzee is signed on a permanent basis by Parma, with the sum set at 7.5 per cent.
However, Parma currently face a battle to survive in Serie A and may be unlikely to sign Zirkzee permanently if they are relegated; it remains to be seen if Everton rekindle their interest in the event he becomes available in the summer.
The struggling side, who in the past had Nnamdi Oduamadi, Obiorah Nwankwo and Joel Chukwuma Obi in their ranks, have scored just 14 times in 20 Serie A games so far this season and sit second bottom of the log, after suffering a 2-0 loss away to Victor Osimhen’s SSC Napoli on Sunday and they now hope that Zirkzee can make an instant impact.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com further disclosed: “Zirkzee was eager to move on to pastures new in the winter transfer market after falling down the pecking order of strikers at Bayern with the arrival of Cameroon star Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
“The 19-year-old has registered 4 goals in seventeen first team appearances for the Bavarians, of which four were starts. Everton had explored the possibility of signing the Super Eagles target before Parma won the race for his signature.
“Nigeria international midfielders Joel Obi and Obiora Nwankwo have represented Parma in the past. After 20 matches in the Italian top-flight, The Yellow and Blues sit 19th in the 20 team table with 13 points before their next game against Bologna.”
