Bournemouth of England’s outgoing winger, Jordon Ibe has received strong backing for him to seal a summer transfer deal with Celtic of Scotland in the coming month, then go on to succeed with the Scottish Premiership champions, megasportsarena.com reports.
The reassuring vote of confidence coming in favour of the former Liverpool of England forward is from the words of ex-Leeds United and Coventry City of England star, Noel Whelan, who stated that he believes Ibe can reignite his career with a move to the Glasgow-based side, despite the youngster having failed to prove his mettle with Bournemouth.
A series of disciplinary issues affected the former England youth international during his time with The Cherries, where Ibe has struggled with injuries and loss of form since his arrival from Anfield in 2016, and it is all but confirmed that he will be released when his contract expires at the end of June.
However, that has not stopped Whelan from rooting for the 24-year-old Ibe, who has appeared in 92 official matches since joining The Cherries, scoring five goals during that time, as he is just ready to stick his neck out to predict that the Nigerian-born lad will get a revival in Glasgow.
Whelan told Football Insider: “People will be working on recruitment behind the scenes. I am pretty sure he is a player that Neil Lennon can get the best out of. They did it with Scott Sinclair. He had a fantastic period there.
“They probably see him as a similar player but he needs to meet the expectations people had of him when he left Liverpool. He was a fantastic player but has never hit the heights that were expected from people.
“Celtic have managed to create a great environment to be around, a winning environment. He will feel wanted there but he needs to step into that role and prove a point if he makes the move. There is more in him so this is a really big decision for him.”
