SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins is banking on a sterling outing with the Super Eagles in next Friday’s international friendly against Cameroon to open him up for a possible transfer to a club in England.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, though he recently lost his spot in the Eagles to FC Porto of Portugal revelation, Zaidu Sanusi, Collins will bank on the absence of his rival due to injury and make the best of his expected role in left-back.
He could also end up with a starting role in the next friendly against Mexico on July 3, such that the prospects of sealing his dream move to England, preferably with a top-flight club in the English Premier League could be right on course.
Heading into the upcoming games, German regional newspaper, Neue Westfälische reports that Collins is due to report at the Eagles’ camp in Austria, on Monday, as he is one of six defenders invited by Nigeria’s coach, Gernot Rohr for the game against Cameroon on June 4.
The 26-year-old Collins stands a good chance of being named in the starting lineup against the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations hosts as he is the only out-and-out left-back called-up by Rohr, while stats also reveal his gritty efforts with Paderborn this season in the German second division, during which he appeared in 24 games and got 23 starts.
Though the former Rijeka of Croatia left-back has a contract running with Paderborn until the end of next season, there is a clause in his papers stipulating that he can terminate the deal by mid-June, and Collins aims to use the international window to further sell himself to suitors.
