Bayern Munich of Germany fast-rising youngster, Jamaal Musiala has received a strong bait to commit his international future to the country of his birth and snub his parents’ nation, Nigeria, as the national team’s handler, Joachim Löw is set to hold private talks with him, megasportsarena.com reports.
While officials of Germany’s football governing body have already outlined steps that will keep them ahead of Nigeria and England in the race of international career allegiance from the new kid on the block¸ Löw has now waded in to convince Musiala why it would be better to stick with Die Mannschaft.
A report by highly popular German newspaper, Bild disclosed that the product of Chelsea of England’s academy, who was born in Stuttgart 17 years ago, will sign his first professional contract with The Bavarians on February 26 and soon after receive his first senior call-up to Germany’s national team.
The attacking midfielder qualifies to play for the Super Eagles through his Nigerian father, but he is also eligible for England, having spent most of his childhood there and became provisionally cap-tied after a competitive debut for The Young Lions in a European U21 Championship qualifier against Andorra last November.
However, with the youngster also having played non-competitive matches for England’s U15 and U16 sides as well as Germany’s U16s, Löw believes Musiala’s international future at full senior level is with his country, such that he will now join DFB director, Oliver Bierhoff in crunch talks to convince the youngster to choose Die Mannschaft.
This means German look in a strong position to tie down Musiala’s international future if the enterprising lad, who has played 21 matches for Bayern Munich’s first team and has three goals to his name, decides to feature for the four-time World Cup winners and goes on to make four senior appearances before the age of 21.
