Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho made it two goals in straight number of matches for The Foxes, as he romped home in grand style on Sunday to help the in-form former champs snatch a dramatic 4-1 win away to Aston Villa.
Iheanacho made the best of a rare start to aid his side’s sensational victory, despite first getting a yellow card in 38th minute, as he made hay in the 41st and was replaced in the 64th.
The back-to-favour lad’s well-taken effort with a left foot inside the box, as stay within eight points of Premier League leaders Liverpool and move six clear of third-placed Manchester City.
The result also saw Leicester — on 38 points — open a sizeable gap over fourth-placed Chelsea on 29 points and fifth-placed Manchester United on 24 points.
What began as an end-to-end encounter in the torrential rain soon turned in the visitors’ favour when Jamie Vardy opened the scoring on 20 minutes.
Iheanacho doubled Leicester’s lead with four minutes remaining in the first half, but Villa captain Jack Grealish pulled one back for the hosts after a VAR check on the stroke of half-time.
Leicester defender, Jonny Evans netted for the first time this season in the second half, however, before Vardy struck again to seal victory for the Foxes just two days after coach Brendan Rodgers signed a new deal at the club amid links to managerless Arsenal.
Vardy’s second goal of the day was his 16th this season, cementing his status as top scorer in the Premier League so far this term, as his side enacted a club record eight win a row in the Premier League.
The 32-year-old’s finishes also meant he has scored in eight consecutive games for the second time in his Premier League career. The only other player to achieve that feat is former Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy.
