Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho managed to get only seven minutes of action with The Foxes in their dramatic 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday, and former Chelsea striker, Emil Heskey believes the Super Eagles’ star is getting limited playing time because he does not have enough ‘fire in his belly.’
Megasportsarenac.com reports that, while fellow-Eagles’ ace, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi played all 90 minutes of the game, in which both sides scored amazing goals in added time of the second half, Iheanacho, who joined Leicester from Manchester City in the summer of 2017, sat out until the 83rd minute of play at Vicarage Road, and Heskey opened that the Nigerian lad lacks the same push Jamie Vardy has.
Although Iheanacho returned to goals scoring form before the enforced break, contributing to 12 goals (8 goals, 4 assists) in 18 matches his chances only come when Vardy is unavailable for selection, such that Heskey, who also played for Liverpool and Leicester, concluded that the ex-England striker has more power up front that the Nigerian lad possesses.
Heskey said on Premier League Productions: “Iheanacho has come in and done very well but he doesn’t have that fire in his belly like what Jamie Vardy does. When you look at Leicester, without Jamie Vardy it doesn’t tick as well, they understand what runs he wants to make, they understand where he wants the ball and you know he’s a finisher.”
