Leicester City of England midfielder, Kelechi Iheanacho has confessed that he was totally thrilled to score in Sunday’s 4-1 spanking of Aston Villa, and described the feat as a fantastic victory’ for his side in the English Premier League, megasportsarena.com gathered.
While taking delight from his contributions to the big away win at Villa Park, as he got an assist before sealing the day’s second goal before half time, Iheanacho, who has now hit target in the last two matches for The Foxes, added that he was equally happy to help his side stay second with their eighth straight win of the season and move six points clear of Manchester City.
The 23-year-old ‘Kelele’ gave the assist for Jamie Vardy to open scoring after 20 minutes, after skipping round Villa keeper, Tom Heaton and finishing at the second attempt before he got on the score sheet in the 41st minute to make it 2-0 after tucking home James Maddison’s pass.
Villa captain, Jack Grealish then pulled one back for the hosts, as he whipped an effort into the bottom corner on the stroke of half-time, before The Foxes’ center-back Jonny Evans put the visitors back two-ahead after heading in from a corner kick shortly after the interval.
Vardy then dashed clear with 15 minutes remaining to slide an effort beyond Heaton and put the game out of Villa’s reach and ensure Leicester maintain second spot in the EPL table with 38 points, though still eight points behind the league leaders, Liverpool.
In the wake of the encounter, Iheanacho admitted he was excited with both his personal and team surge, as the former Columbus Crew of America and Manchester City of England forward took to social media to celebrate his goal and assist, from his first start of the current campaign.
Iheanacho, who now has two goals and two assists in two league appearances for Leicester this season, submitted: “Fantastic performance from the team. Happy to get another goal and assist. 8 wins in a row now that’s it (we’re on fire.”
