Manchester United are bound to have another Nigerian player added to their ranks, as The Red Devils are said to be monitoring the progress of former Golden Eaglets’ invitee, Iffy Udanoh, who is currently waxing strong at lower division side, Stoke City, megasportsarena.com gathered.
United are looking at the possibility of adding the youngster to their academy ranks, which already has the like of Jide Sotona, Shola Sheretire and many others, after the highly-rated central defender proved his mettle with Stoke in the English Championship.
He joined The Potters in a two-year pre-scholarship deal last year and, although he recently had a long bout with injury, The Red Devils are not bothered about his fitness, as the club that got former Super Eagles’ striker, Odion Jude Ighalo in a loan extension last week have now invited Udanoh for a tour of their Carrington training facility, in a bid to lure him away from Stoke City.
Udanoh is nearing a return to full fitness after suffering a meniscus injury shortly after he was handed a scholarship by Stoke, whose medics gave him a recovery programme to follow during his rehabilitation and he has rebuilt his muscles to full competitive levels after surgery.
Stoke were meant to confirm the first-year scholar on their roster for next season, but that plan was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has given United a chance to nip in for the versatile center back, who is currently participating in a multiple of group exercises with The Potters’ academy players through video conferencing.
