Former Super Eagles’ invitee, Ifeanyi Mathew has extended his stay with Lillestrom of Norway as a free agent in a for a year’s deal, while former Abuja Football Colleague captain, Yahaya Saleh has sealed a contract in Moldova, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Saleh is starting out in fertile territory, 23-year-old Matthew will aim for consolidation with Lillestrom, despite earlier being linked with a summer move to Aalborg of Denmark, after he twice rejected the chance of joining Norway’s most successful club, Rosenborg.
A report by FCNaija added: “Mathew’s initial contract was to have ended July 31 and that will make him a free agent before he penned a new one year deal after Lillestrom announced the contract extension via their Twitter handle.
“The former Kano Pillar and El-Kanemi Warriors attacking midfielder has played four years in Norway where he played 94 times and scored 13 goals within which time he enjoyed a loan stint at Turkish second division club Osmanlispor.”
Similarly, Saleh has signed a year’s contract with seven-time Moldovan champions, FC Zimbru after several weeks on trial with the ambitious club that now have new owners and have won the country’s FA Cup six times.
After landing at the club based in the country’s capital, Chisinau, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder admitted he is really thrilled with his first step in Europe and affirmed that he is very determined to hit the ground running on his debut for the team that lost their season’s opener 1-0 at home against Dacia-Biuucani.
Saleh told SCORENigeria: “It’s a dream come true to sign my first professional contract in Europe. My gratitude to Zimbru for the confidence they have in me and I hope to repay it.”
