Galatasaray of Turkey returnee, Henry Onyekuru has revealed that he felt deeply happy and relieved after sealing a return to the Istanbul-based side, on loan from AS Monaco of France, megasportsarena.com reports.
The deal initially appeared to be heading for the rocks after Monaco insisted on a clause that Galatasaray should buy the star permanently after his latest loan stint, but both clubs eventually reached an agreement that will see Onyekuru earn 600,000 euro during his third term at Gala.
His trip back to Istanbul had also been delayed by several hours, after his flight out of Marseille, France was twice cancelled, such that the former KAS Eupen and RSC Anderlecht of Belgium attacker-cum-winger is quick to admit that returning to his favourite hunting ground is worth celebrating.
The 23-year-old Onyekuru stated as much after he landed in Istanbul to complete his loan move to Galatasaray, where he eventually arrived early Saturday for what will be his third loan spell at the Istanbul-based Turkish Super Lig side, who have an option to buy him outright at the end of this season.
Across his two previous stints with Gala, Onyekuru scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 56 official games, while also winning a Turkish Lig and Cup double during his first spell, which he will now hope to replicate after both clubs reached a €600,000 agreement for his latest switch.
Having endured a difficult spell at Stade Louis II, Onyekuru will now seek an insistent revival with his return to Galatasaray, as he made just four appearances for Monaco this season and his last appearance was as a late substitute in a 2-1 loss away to Stade Rennes in September.
Onyekuru will now hope to justify the faith of the club’s coach, Fatih Terim, as he teams up with fellow-countrymen Oghenekaro Etebo and Valentine Ozornwafor who are all plying their trade at Turk Telekom Stadium, where he declared on arrival: “I am always happy to be here.”
