Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets will have to return to camp immediately and step up their training routine, after Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that this year’s African U-17 Cup of Nations will now hold in March.
Meegasportsarena.com gathered that, in contrast with an initial schedule that fixed the competition for July, the Eaglets have found out that they have to start working earnestly towards March 19 as the new kick-off date for the 2021 U-17 AFCON in Morocco.
Consequently, Coach Fatai Folorunsho Amoo (Arsenal) is set to submit a hastily revised training programme proposal to the technical committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which is also awaiting his report on the zonal qualifiers in Lome, Togo.
This comes after his side placed second behind Cote d’Ivoire, who beat them twice during the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone-B contest, following which both countries will be joined in Morocco by Algeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, South Africa and the defending champions, Cameroon.
