Milwaukee Bucks of America star, Giannis Adetokunbo (Antetokounmpo) showed another side of his human nature when he pointedly handed over his sports shoes to a little girl sitting in the stands after his team’s 117-89 win over Indiana Pacers in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA) league, as he gave the lass an early Christmas present, megasportsarena.com reports.
The reining most valuable player in the NBA, who plays for the national team of Greece but always talks about the Nigerian in him, handed over his shoes to the lucky supporter after the game and invited her onto the court to pose for photographs with him and her guardian.
The girl was clearly overcome with emotion as she cradled the huge size 16 boots in her arms, while her guardian supported her in the moment of glee, as Antetokounmpo made her day, after netting 18 points, 19 rebounds and nine assists to lead The Bucks to victory.
Antetokounmpo was widely praised for his actions in surprising the young fan, who watched on all through, as Wesley Matthews also hit home 19 points for NBA-leading Milwaukee, who have now won three straight since a 120-116 loss to Dallas Mavericks stopped an 18-game win streak.
The girl could not hide her shock as the MVP approached her after the game, in which ‘The Greek Freak’ enjoyed a successful night on the court, as his side recorded victory against his former team-mate Malcolm Brogdon.
Brogdon was drafted by Milwaukee and spent his first three seasons with Bucks before he was acquired by Indiana in a sign-and-trade deal over the summer, and he was welcomed back with cheers and a tribute video, then he finished with 10 points on 5-of-19 shooting and 10 assists.
Antetokounmpo said: “Happy for him. We had a chance to talk a little bit before the game. Just keep getting better, man. He’s going to help his team.” Brogdon added: “It was great to be back in Fiserv (Forum). These fans have been amazing to me. They were amazing to me tonight. They’ve been amazing to be the past three years. Just incredibly thankful for them.”
