FC Midtjylland of Denmark midfielder, Frank Onyeka is back in training with the Scandinavian club, in spite of reports still linking him with a move to England, megasportsarena.com reports.
The one-cap Super Eagles’ fringe player has been severally linked with a move English Premier League newcomers, Brentford, but, with the deal still dragging on, he has opted to retrace his footsteps back to Midtjylland.
Such it was that the product of FC Ebedie of Shagamu was spotted training alongside the Nigerian duo of Chuma Anene and David Akintola, with all three found in varying stages of involvement during the workout on Thursday.
The session came just a day before their first competitive match of the new season against Odense Boldklub, but it is not clear if Onyeka will play that match, as he is still being strongly linked with a move to Brentford and it is believed only paperwork is delaying the deal.
A report by Danish sports magazine, Tipsbladet revealed that Onyeka was present at Thursday’s training in Ikast, but the central midfielder only had an individual session, as he did not join the rest of the squad and only participated in running exercises together with a Midtjylland staff.
That scenario buttressed a cloud of doubt over the possibility of the coach, Bo Henriksen fielding Onyeka in Friday’s home game, such that fellow-Nigerian lad, Raphael Onyedika could get the nod to step out against OB, after giving a good account of himself doing recent preparations.
