Chelsea of England youth team striker, Faustino Anjorin has emerged as a the first recipient of personal tips and one-on-one contact with The Blues’ new coach, Thomas Tuchel, just a day after the German tactician was named gaffer of the London-based side, megasportsarena.com reports.
Tuchel, who had previously coached Borussia Dortmund of Germany and Paris-Saint Germaine of France, was named Chelsea’s new handler a day after the dismissal of Frank Lampard, and it so happened that Anjorin was called to train with the main team in the first session the gaffer would attend.
Lampard lost five of his last eight matches in the English Premier League, such that victory over Championship side, Luton Town in the FA Cup on Sunday could not save him from being sacked, thereby leaving way for Tuchel to put pen to paper on an 18-month contract with the London-based side.
Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge includes the possibility of a contract extension and, just before he got down to business immediately with Wednesday’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the German tactician took charge of his first training session as Chelsea manager on Tuesday evening at Cobham and Anjorin was one of the lads he monitored at close quarters.
At a point during the session, Tuchel was spotted holding a private discussion with the Nigerian-born England youth international, whose appearance in training with the first team so soon after Lampard’s sack may suggest he is in the immediate plans of ‘the new Sherriff in town.’
However, despite appearing to catch the eye of Tuchal, the 19-year-old Anjorin is still holding a soft spot for Lampard, under who he got four first-team appearances with The Blues’ main squad, including debuts in the UEFA Champions League, EPL, English FA Cup and in Carabao Cup.
Consequently, Anjorin is not one to slam the past the club’s immediate coach , as he took to social media with a deeply emotional farewell message to Lampard who was dismissed after 18 months in the saddle.
Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich was unimpressed with the club’s form so far this season and decided to do away with Lampard, as the team are currently ninth on the log, following a run of five defeats in eight league games.
This is despite the fact that the Stamford Bridge outfit were active in the last summer transfer window, spending close to 220 million pounds to buy Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy.
Anjorin was 17 years old when Lampard, who remains Chelsea’s all-time record goals scorer as a player, handed the Nigerian-born lad his professional debut in a 7-1 victory over Grimsby Town in September 2019 and then got his first game in the prestigious EPL last March against Everton.
Anjorin has quickly shown that he will not forget what he enjoyed under Lampard, who kept calling him up to main team’s full training sessions on several occasions, even in the days leading up to his sacking, as the youngster posted: “Thank you for making my dream come true!💙”
