Stoke City of England midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo is raining accolades on The Potters’ fans for the ‘amazing’ support he says they gave his squad for another victory at the weekend, megasportsarena.com reports.
The former Warri Wolves of Delta State, Fariense of Portugal and Las Palmas of Spain battler was thrilled to help his side gain maximum points, as Stoke won 2-0 at home against Fulham, and the 23-year-old Super Eagles’ star went on to thank their fans for inspiring the in.
The victory came with Etebo is also returning to action with the club, following his absence from club and national team duties due to personal matters in Lagos, as he made the best of his 10th start in the English Championship.
Heading into Saturday’s game, Stoke gaffer, Nathan Jones was desperate to turn the struggling former top-flight team’s fortunes round, such that Etebo and his mates were all happy to see Tyrese Campbell put them in front on 18 minutes, before Lee Gregory made it 2-0 from the spot.
It was only Stoke’s second victory of the season, moving them off bottom spot to 23rd and eight points from safety, much to the delight of Etebo, who was ever present in midfield, adding some defensive roles and finished with 94% passing accuracy.
Etebo took to social media afterwards to celebrate his side’s victory, while not forgetting to note the roles played by their fans, as he posted: “Another 3 points. Well done lads and thanks to all the amazing fans of City for their support.”
