Stoke City of England out-of-favour midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo could get the opportunity of reviving his career with a January move to Scotland, as he is attracting attention from Scottish Premiership side, Heart of Midlothian, megasportsarena.com reports.
The 24-year-old former Warri Wolves of Delta State, CD Fereinse of Portugal and Las Palmas of Spain battler is no ,longer a regular Stoke, hence fervid talk about an impending exit from The Potters for Etebo this winter, and the former club of fellow-Nigerian star, Juwon Oshaniwa now look set to be his next destination.
Etebo has failed to impress Stoke’s boss, Martin O’Neill since recovering from a muscle injury, and he has since made only two matchday squads, yet stayed on the bench for both games, such that the handwriting is clealy on the wall for him to move on elsewhere.
This is in stark contrast with the fortune Etebo enjoyed over the past two seasons with The Potters, especially with a splendid run during the 2018/19 campaign, when he started 29 games in the English Championship and won the club’s player of the year award.
The dark-skinned midfielder, who was also 2015 CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year, is now said to be attracting keen January transfer attention from Hearts, who Edinburgh Evening News reported are looking at Etebo and three other players from Stoke.
However, considering that Etebo cost six million pounds when he joined Stoke from Feirense in the summer of 2018, Hearts may not have the financial muscle to sign the central midfielder on a permanent deal, hence a loan agreement is under consideration between both clubs.
