Former Super Eagles assistant coach and goalkeepers’ trainer, Joe Erico has downplayed the threat posed by Ukraine in Tuesday’s international friendly with Nigeria, as he posited that it will be a case of eleven players out against same number on the opposing side, megasportsarena.com reports.
However, Erico went on to warn ahead of the 7:30pm kick-off time in Dnipro, that the Eagles’ coach have to outline an adequate plan for the encounter and the players should stay focused till the very end of the tie.
Making his points known during Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos, the ‘Jogo Bonito Exponent’ reckoned that the Eagles will be able to hold their own against their hosts once they keep their concentration level high on their coach’s gameplan and ensure they maintain the right tactics.
He maintained that there should not be anything special about this game, as it is just another clash between equally balanced sides with the same number of players on the pitch at every given point, only that the side that stays focused till the final whistle will end up carrying the day.
Erico cajoled: “I don’t see anything difficult in playing this international friendly. It’s 11 players versus 11 players. We just need to get our plans right and stay focused.”
