Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure remains in the matchday plans of the team’s coach, Philippe Clement, despite recent cold blood and transfer speculations that keep surrounding him, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Clement acknowledged that things have not been smooth with the striker since last summer, when he sought a transfer to Glasgow Celtic of Scotland, the gaffer stressed that he expects the Super Eagles’ fringe player to always make himself available for selection.
Already, Bonaventure’s current value in the transfer market has crashed from 16m to 11m Euro within five months, following less activity and impact from him since August 2020, sequel to many controversies involving the player and his limited appearances for the Belgian champions so far this season.
The figures released by transfermarkt also noted that Bonaventure will go for a lower price once Brugge eventually decide to sell him, which is in contrast with their initial insistence of holding out for a fee between 20 and 25m Euro last summer.
However, Celtic and all other interested suitors could match Brugge’s asking price, even as Bonaventure revealed that what could have been a dream transfer for him to Semi Ajayi’s West Bromwich Albion of England also collapsed, because he was not granted a work permit.
Nonetheless, while not ruling out a departure for the winger-cum-attacker, who joined Brugge from Ukraine three years ago, Clement disclosed that Bonaventure was part of the team’s training ahead of their next Belgian Jupiler League fixture against Racing Genk on Sunday.
This is despite the fact that Bonaventure last played for the Belgian champions on December 5 in a 1-0 home win over Sint-Truiden, but he is yet to score in nine league appearances so far this season, which has been riddled with controversy for him, but Clement urged the lad to keep working with the squad until he eventually leaves.
Clement told Het Laatste Nieuws: “He has trained with the group again. Only one good training is not enough. We want to see this longer. And then we will see whether Dennis is still here on February 1 or not.”
