Watford of England midfielder, Tom Dele-Bashiru has declared that he and other players in Nigeria’s under-23 squad, Olympic Eagles are thinking of going all the way to the trophy at this year’s African championship in Egypt, megasportsarena.com reports.
The lad on loan from Manchester City stressed that all the Nigerian players are thinking not only of picking a ticket to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan but also of defending the African U23 Cup of Nations title won by the previous squad at Senegal 2015.
He added during Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that the team aim to go very far in The Land of The Pharaohs, because the players know the value of making their country proud and how success would also impact positively on their respective club careers.
The dark-skinned youngster, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland earlier this year, during which he scored a wonder-goal in the Flying Eagles’ first match, added that all players in the under-23 squad have resolved to play together for the common task of taking Nigeria to the Olympics and ensuring they win the cup as well.
Dele-Bashiru vowed: “I am sure this team will go very far in Egypt. In fact, we plan on going all the way, because we want to go to the Olympic Games and we want to retain the cup. We will all play to the best of our abilities, work very hard and do everything possible to succeed.”
