Manchester City of England whiz-kid, Ayotomiwa ‘Tom’ Dele-Bashiru and Nnamdi Ofoborh from Bournemouth take the spotlight in Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles’ final squad list for this month’s FIFA U-20 World Cup, with Sweden-based Henry Offia also among a total of nine youngsters who ply their trade overseas.
Other foreign-based players in Paul Aigbogun’s 21-player roster for the Youth Mundial in Poland include an ‘unknown’ goalkeeper, Jonathan Zaccala from Triestina of Italy, as well as Igoh Ogbu (a defender from Rosenborg BK of Norway).
Those from overseas also include Kingsley Michael (a midfielder from AC Perugia of Italy) as well as three other strikers, Jerome Adams (Sogndal IL of Norway); Tijani Muhammed (Banik Ostrava of Czech Republic) and Chinonso Emeka (Club Brook House of England).
The former Black Aces of South Africa, Warri Wolves of Delta State and Enyimba of Aba coach, however, kept faith with some of the players that helped him pick fourth position at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic in February.
Megasportsarena.com reports further that the array of faithful lads in Aigbogun’s squad includes captain of the side, Ikouwem Udoh Utin, goalkeeper Olawale Oremade, Effiom Maxwell and Valentine Ozornwafor.
They have all been undergoing drills in the Flying Eagles’ final training camp at Bad Goegging in Germany, where Aigbogun unveiled the list to Poland 2019 some 24 hours before they battled Red Bull Salzburg in their fourth build-up match, which ended 1-1 on Tuesday evening.
