Tottenham Hotspur of England dazzler, Bamidele (Dele) Alli could finally be on his way to Paris-Saint Germaine of France, just a year after his current employers snubbed three separate bids for him by the same club last summer, megasportsarena.com reports.
The 24-year-old Nigerian-born midfielder, who is currently out with a tendon injury, continues to struggle for game time under Spurs’ current coach, Jose Mourinho, who prefers looking in the direction of emergent Tanguy Ndombele, thereby paving the way for Alli’s exit this month.
Alli has only appeared in four English Premier League games this term, while starting only one of them, which forced him to reportedly ask to leave the London-based club in order to get regular first-team action elsewhere, heading into this year’s European Championship.
Fortunately for him, PSG have renewed their interest in him, despite the repeated snub they got last summer from Spurs’ chairman, Daniel Levy’ and a report by The Athletic indicates that the French champions are getting ever so close to their target.
However, an additional report by The Daily Mirror indicates that Tottenham will not allow Alli to leave permanently, but a loan deal remains a possibility, especially if Mourinho’s side can find a replacement first for the 24-year-old Nigerian-born England international.
The report adds: “With former Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino now in charge at Parc des Princes, Alli has been tipped to reunite with the manager who oversaw his breakthrough in North London.
“Levy is reportedly against letting Alli leave permanently, but a loan move to PSG before the end of the transfer window could be on the cards. Nonetheless, PSG remain confident of completing a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli before Monday’s transfer deadline.
“Alli, who has three years left on his current contract, is determined to play more regularly during the second half of the season and hopes to break back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad before next summer’s Euro 2020.
“The former MK Dons man has played just 74 minutes in the Premier League this campaign and has been omitted from Tottenham’s matchday squad in 11 of their 18 top-flight games.
“Spurs are understood to have rejected three bids from the French champions for the midfielder last summer, however a deal to be agreed before 11pm on February 1 seems more likely. “
