Ajax defender Calvin Bassey will not miss the Uefa Champions League match against Liverpool despite the injury scare in the Dutch Eredivisie match with Heerenveen on Saturday.
The Nigerian defender was forced out in the 83rd minute of the match for medical attention, and Ajax played the last 10 minutes with a man down, in a game the Amsterdam side won 5-0 with Bassey getting an assist.
Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder allayed fears and declared that the Nigerian defender will be involved at Anfield, ”It’s not too bad , Bassey just got a kick on his calf.”
Bassey is needed in the Ajax defence to curtail Liverpool as they play their second group game this week in the Champions League, with the Reds desperate for a win after falling 4-1 away to Napoli in their opening Group A match.
