Brightville College of Ibadan are looking to add international spoils to their growing pedigree in football, as the private-owned intuition are featuring in a youth competition organized by Galaxy Sports Development in Ghana, megasportsarena.com reports.
The Nigerian intuition, owned by Dr Friday Ogada aim to emerged tops from in the first edition of the international invitational competition that began on Wednesday, October 2, with nine other youth teams and football academies in contention for the star prize.
A former youth football talent with interest in the colleague, Johnson Kolade Fagbamiye said he is impressed by the efforts of Dr Ogada is supporting the discovery of hidden sports talents, as he disclosed that the proprietor also promotes the development of athletics and other events.
He added that Brightville College, who he recalled were runners-up at the 2014 edition of All-Nigeria Secondary Schools Football Championship, sponsored by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), have what is takes to hold their own against the array of top teams they will come up against during the ongoing competition in Ghana.
The college’s team, tagged Gold Academy of Nigeria, are featuring alongside the host team, Galaxy Sports Academy as well as Ashanti SC, Kharis Sports Academy, Asante Koto U20, Madina Manchester Academy, Karela United FC, Razgold Football Academy and Charity Stars FC, all from Ghana, as well as Teco FC of Cote d’Ivoire.
Despite the huge challenge facing the colleague, Fagbamiye, who was fondly called ‘Arsenal’ during his early days playing football in Osu, Osun State, reckoned that the zeal and passion of their sports and education loving owner will spur them to greater height in Ghana and beyond.
Fagbamiye disclosed: “Dr. Friday Ogada is the proprietor of Brightville Gold Academy, Ibadan that is participating in this tournament. His school came second in the Shell Cup competition in 2014. He is involved in athletics too. His passion for youth development and education is great.”
